There is an exhibits area and Continental Electronics has a booth. The guy running the booth told me that a Continental Electronics HF transmitter is being installed in Chad about two weeks from now. He didn't provide any more details so I don't know who the customer is not even if it's civilian or military. Anyway, something to possibly look out for". Jean-Michel Aubier, again on the World of Radio io group, replied: "According to Gemini: This initiative is part of the project to modernise Chad's national broadcasting network (ONAMA). The American company Con- tinental Electronics is installing high-power shortwave (HF) transmitters to ensure coverage across the entire Chadian territory as well as neigh- bouring countries, where local FM transmitters cannot reach. Key details about these transmitters: Objective: To restore consistent national radio coverage (the national shortwave radio system had been out of service or obsolete for several years)". Their Sunday-only programme was observed by Franz Bleeker-GER in July 2026 at 1500-1530 on 11760 and 15140 kHz, although RHC's frequency usage is unpredictable at present and they may be heard on alternative frequencies, or not at all. The two 355-metre-high masts of the Liblice transmitter near Cesky Brod are due to be demolished by controlled explosions in October 2026. In its time, the complex, built in 1976, was the most powerful medium-wave transmitter in Central Europe, with an output of 1.5 megawatts. Czech Radio broadcast from the site until the end of 2021, after which the transmitter was temporarily used by Country Radio. Broadcasting from Liblice finally ended in March 2025. The draft state budget for next year allocates 26.25million crowns for CRo international broadcasts, which is the same amount as this year. TheAugust draft budget for 2027 did not include any funding for this purpose at all. In 2025, 35 million crowns were allocated for international broadcasting. CzechRadio is required to broadcast abroad by law. The law also stipulates that these costs are covered from the state budget. When the state budget for this year was discussed in the lower house in February, Foreign Mini- ster Petr Macinka (Motorists) said money from the state budget should not be used to pay for the foreign radio broadcasts. Deputy Foreign Minister Radek Augustin (for Freedom and Direct Democracy, SPD) told the media committee today that originally there was no money in the ministry's budget for these broadcasts, because it was expected that the funding of public service media would be changed. CRo director Rene Zavoral said that the radio due to lower funding from the state, the number of employees in foreign broadcasting was decreased, weekend news coverage was cut, and the production of podcasts and newsletters limited. 'Radio Prague International' currently broadcasts in seven languages, during week- ends only in Czech, English and German. This year, Czech Radio's interna- tional service is celebrating its 90th anniversary. ($1 = 21.522 crowns. kva_dr_er. Alexander checked the times that they were previously broadcast and found regular 'Radio Eli' Russian broadcasts at 0300-0500 and 1600-1700 UT and a Ukrainian one at 1700-1800. Thanks Alexander, updates will be made. Alexander also says that 'Missionwerk Friedensstimme' (Marienheide, Ger- many) in Russian is being relayed via 'Radio Eli' on 1035 kHz at 1100-1130 Sunday (initial transmission), 0000-0030 Tuesday, 0800-0830 Thursday, 1600-1630 Friday (the last three broadcasts are repeats of the original one). Indeed, Reuters reported on 26 September 2026 that internet and phone ser- vices went down across Tigray on the orders of the Tigray People's Libera- tion Front, so another good reason why the government in Addis Ababa may restore a service on shortwave. During the last civil war in the Tigray region in 2020-2022 years, 'Radio Ethiopia' was heard daily between on 7110 kHz at 04.00-10.00 UT, 13.00- 15.00 UT and 16.00-18.00 UT; it was last reported on 7110 kHz in October 2023 presumably by then things were considered to have returned to normal. The test consisted of test tones. August 24th marked the first broadcast of prerecorded audio content. The transmitter is currently on a temporary antenna so our reach is only 150km (groundwave) at present. The proper antenna is yet to be moved and installed but this should take place in September before the winter season. The Nautel ND2000 is currently running at 600Watt carrier and 750-800 Watt peak modulation. The losses in the temporary antenna are huge! Further changes will mean more power at a later date. We are on the lookout for a Nautel ND4000 and its ATU. Audio enhancements are being carried out so we are still in a testing phase using prerecorded programming. If you can help the station in any way it would be great to hear from you as we are also still in need of a MW and SW transmitter plus an Optimod audio processor. A huge and grate- ful thanks for those of you who have supported the project, it has taken a long time to get to this point with many ups and downs along the way but we are there, after 32 years a new LW station from Finland is on air, albeit a small start. Die DVB-T-Aus- strahlung startete 2005 zunaechst mit oeffentlich-rechtlichen Program- men; private Angebote (u. a. RTL-Gruppe) kamen spaeter hinzu. (via Roger Thauer-D, via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Sept 30) HFCC B-26 season database. During her daily address, the official noted that this marks the first stage of the network's free-to-air broadcasts, with coverage set to gra- dually expand to the country's various departments in the coming months. The launch of the free-to-air signal in Nicaragua complements its availa- bility through cable television providers, a delivery method through which RT en Espanol was already accessible to part of the national audience. RT en Espanol was established in 2005 in Moscow, Russia, while its Spa- nish-language service began broadcasting in December 2009. The channel, which has a significant presence in Latin America and other continents, provides news coverage on politics, economy, culture, and glo- bal social events, positioning itself as an alternative to major hegemo- nic media outlets. {jdt_otf_ybv} (via Mike Cooper-GA-USA, wor Oct 2) PHILIPPINES 15140 kHz on Sat Oct 3 at 23.38UT tune-in, "Everyday English" studying the expression "don't press your luck" in VOA Korean service, S=9+10dB direct from USAGM Tinang relay center, with flutter vertically in strength and Doppler flutter horizontally in frequency - also affecting many weaker signals on 13, 15 and 17 MHz bands, too close to trans-polar. International broadcasting by RNE (Radio Nacional de Espana) - Spain's national radio service - began with transmissions in English and French on March 15, 1942. The launch of broadcasts in German, Italian, Portu- guese, and Arabic on December 14, 1944, likely coincided with the opening of a new transmission center in Arganda del Rey, equipped with a 40 kW transmitter. The exact start date for Russian-language broadcasts is unknown, though it is presumed to be 1946. Initially, Russian broadcasts aired daily as part of RNE's six-language service for Europe; a YouTube video (linked below) provides the broadcast schedules for each of these languages during the 1945-1947 period. In 1949, three additional languages - Polish, Hungarian, and Romanian - were added. Broadcasts in Slovak began in 1950, followed by Ukrainian in 1951. In 1955, broadcasting commenced in Bulgarian and Chinese, as well as in the three Baltic languages: Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian. At that time, RNE's foreign service was divided into three groups: the first was designated "Broadcasts for countries behind the Iron and Bamboo Curtains", the second "Broadcasts for Western countries", and the third "Broadcasts for Arab countries". In 1956, broadcasts in Czech and Serbo- Croatian (often listed as Croatian in schedules) were added to the first group, followed by Belarusian and Albanian in 1959. Finally, Macedonian was introduced in 1962, though broadcasts in that language lasted only two years. According to the WRTH Handbook, between 1947 and 1949, broadcasts in all languages consisted of news, music, press commentary, and talks. Programs in all languages except Russian opened with the Spanish military march "Cabalgata Militar" (used as an intro until the end of 1975), while Rus- sian-language broadcasts began with the polonaise from Tchaikovsky's opera 'Eugene Onegin'. The duration of the daily Russian broadcast remained re- latively constant at 25-30 minutes, though it ran for 40 minutes between 1948 and 1950 and was reduced to 15 minutes in 1960. There were no Russian broadcasts in 1959. By 1961, there were three daily 30-minute broadcasts; this increased to six in 1962-63, and there were five broadcasts per day in 1964-65. Russian-language broadcasting ceased in 1965. The total daily airtime and the number of daily broadcasts for other languages in this group also varied over the years. For instance, Chinese- language programming consisted of a single 30-minute broadcast between 1955 and 1960, increasing to two broadcasts daily from 1961 onwards. Bet- ween 1951 and 1960, there was a single 15-minute Ukrainian-language broad- cast; this increased to three broadcasts in 1961, three 60-minute broad- casts in 1965, and three 30-minute broadcasts in 1970. From 1965 onwards, broadcasting in this group was organized into three repeating blocks (morning, afternoon, and evening). Between 1970 and 1975, each block last- ed 3 hours and 15 minutes, comprising 30-minute segments in five languages and 15-minute segments in three Baltic languages. By the 1960s, the broadcasts in this group had taken on a propagandistic and nationalist character-a fact criticized by the US State Department in internal correspondence during the early 1960s. Furthermore, broadcasts aimed at the USSR - which characterized Franco's dictatorship as a fascist regime-were subjected to intense Soviet jamming until the service was dis- continued in late 1975. List of language groups based on the duration of RNE broadcasting: - Polish, Hungarian: 1949-1975 (27 years) - Slovak: 1950-1975 (26 years) - Ukrainian: 1951-1975 (25 years) - Serbo-Croatian: 1956-1975 (20 years) - Russian: 1946-1965 (18 years; suspended in 1959) - Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian 1955-1965 and 1970-1975 (16 years) - Romanian: 1949-1965 (16 years) - Czech: 1956-1970 (14 years) - Chinese, Bulgarian: 1955-1965 (10 years) - Belarusian, Albanian: 1959-1965 (6 years) - Macedonian: 1962-1964 (2 years) Broadcasting in two of these languages was subsequently resumed: Russian after 25 years-on May 7, 1990 (continuing to the present day)-and Chinese after 60 years, in 2025. YouTube materials regarding the history of Spanish international broad- casting are also of interest. Video featuring the "Cabalgata Militar" intro: Video on the history of RNE's international broadcasting: It mentions the launch of the transmission complex in Arganda del Rey in 1944; a 40 kW transmitter there was used to broadcast in Russian, among other languages. However, the video does not specify the exact date or even the year when broadcasting in Russian and other languages began, citing only a general period of 1945-1947. It recounts the first day of RNE's international service-Sunday, March 15, 1942 (a date commemorated annually on Spanish radio) - when the first broadcasts directed at France, England, and the USSR went on air. The video displays a map with these countries highlighted in red. It identifies the target audience for the broadcasts to the USSR as the Spanish "Blue Division" (Division Azul), which at the time was participating in the blockade of Leningrad alongside Hitler's troops. In Russia, the Siege of Leningrad is recognized as a war crime and an act of genocide. The video also includes an archival broadcast recording and a list of the seven languages used by Radio FET (Falange Espanola Tradicionalista) - a Falangist station based in Valladolid - during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Russian is absent from this list, even though Soviet sources mention Fa- langist broadcasts in Russian during that period. Those broadcasts were intended for the International Brigades fighting within the Republican army. This note supplements information previously published in 'RUS- DX Plus' (issues #950, #1060, and #1140) and incorporates details from WRTH directories spanning the years 1947-1975. USA House Passes Bill to Require AM Radio in New Cars. The day is coming closer when new passenger vehicles sold in the United States would have to include AM radio. The "AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act" has passed the U.S. House of Representatives. It marks a major advance in a multi-year push by broadcasters who have worried about carmakers removing AMradio reception from vehicles, electric and otherwise. Broadcasters, Christian organizations and advocates for older Americans are among those welcoming the vote. The radio industry has pushed it as a measure to protect public safety, citing AM radio's role in disseminating information in times of emergency. The legislation has also been seen as a key bulwark against the further erosion of radio's place in the dashboard. While it does not mention FM, many radio leaders feel the bill's passage would help protect FM's role in the dashboard as well. To become law the bill would have to pass the Senate and be signed by President Trump. He has said he supports the measure. Dear friends, after an exceptionally strong solar cycle peak, propagation conditions are still very good, allowing excellent reception of e.g. HFDL stations on 21 MHz - see our hotfrequencies webpage updated daily. What's more, we've monitored hundreds of new military frequencies ... We're now working on our new products - 2027/2028 Guide to Utility Radio Stations - 2027 Shortwave Frequency Guide - 2027 Super Frequency List on CD - 2027 Frequency Database for the Perseus SDR to be published on 10 December 2026. Full-resolution title page graphics can be found at and and and Just for the record, these are not stupid compilations by "Artificial Intelligence", but the results of daily (and "nightly" ...) real radio monitoring and decoding. If you are able to supply additional new frequencies and stations, your cooperation would be highly appreciated. Please let us have your data by 20 October 2026. The continuously updated product Digital Data Decoder Screenshots on USB Stick now covers more than 30,000 (thirty thousand!) screenshots from 1997 to today. Feed your PC or Tablet with this data, and the "slide show" will keep you busy for a few days - or weeks! More than 800 (eight hundred!) selected new digital data decoder screen- shots will be published on our 2027 Super Frequency List on CD. Latest references (full list at ).
