The Brazilian station Voz Missionaria is producing spurs from their 5940 kHz transmitter. They can be heard on 5844 and 6036.3kHz. The spurs' modu- lation is a bit scratchy but enough to understand the ID at TOH. I found them on the KiwiSDR near Sao Paulo (Sao Bernardo do Campo), but when I checked other SDRs I heard them as far away as Iceland, so they do pro- pagate. 2024-April-01: 0057 UT 5844 kHz:55433; 5940 kHz:55444; 6036.3 kHz:55444; 9665 kHz:55555; 11750kHz :45544. Thanks very much to Cahcn's continuing excellent monitoring! Ron Howard "In the A24 season, the program arrangement of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Voice shortwave time slot has basically remained unchanged. It was confirmed through online listening that the Cantonese programs "Chinese World" and "Cantonese Golden Songs" are still being broadcast, but they have been adjusted to non-shortwave time slots. This season, the author focuses on the Vietnamese program in the 20:00 hr time slot, listening to it repeatedly through simultaneous interpretation software to confirm the names of the two programs. The program broadcast at 20:00 is called "Van hoa Trung Quoc", and the program broadcast at 20:35 is called "Doc truyen nhac phi". The small Vietnamese column broadcast after "Idiom Translation" at 20:30 does not have a clear program name. The content is probably to introduce informa- tion about Guangxi and China. The introduction of the column is as follows: Nhung thong tin moi nhat duong thoi, nhung kien thuc khoa hoc gan gui nhat voi cuoc song. Tay, neu ban muon kham pha Trung Quoc, hay cung chung toi buoc vao chuong trinh kham pha. Translated into Chinese, the general meaning is: The latest information and scientific knowledge closest to life. On March 27, 2011, Russia switched to permanent summer time- Until 1917, cities and towns of the Russian Empire lived according to solar time (local). For the first time, summer time was introduced on July 14, 1917 by decree of the Provisional Government. This was done following the example of Western countries in order to save electricity. After 1921, time zones began to be introduced in the RSFSR and the USSR, and standard time began to operate, which did not provide for the annual change of hands. On June 16, 1930, by decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR, time was moved forward one hour (the so-called maternity time). After this, the switches were not translated for more than 50 years. The change of clocks to summer time was resumed on April 1, 1981, but al- ready relative to maternity time. On June 3, 2011, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed the federal law "On the Calculation of Time," according to which 11 time zones in Russia were replaced by nine time zones. Special stamp "100 years Radio Beograd" Postage stamp dedicated to 100th anniversary of Radio Belgrade presented The postage stamp dedicated to the centenary of the founding of the ol- dest media in the Balkans was presented in the Stone Hall of Radio Belgrade. Minister of Information and Telecommunications of the Govern- ment of the Republic of Serbia, Mihailo Jovanovic, Director of Radio Belgrade, Milan Nedic, and Acting Director of the Post of Serbia, Zoran Dordevic spoke at the ceremony. With the new postage stamp, the Post of Serbia wants to point out the im-portance of Radio Belgrade as an important cultural and media insti- tution in Serbia and reminds that the Belgrade Rakovica station started operating on October 1, 1924. Radio Belgrade today produces 168 hours of programme a day, in addition to the First, Second, Third Programme and 202, there are also four thematic channels on RTS Planet and on the new platform RTS Sound. Minister of Information and Telecommunications Mihailo Jovanovi? pointed out that it is very important to connect institutions in this way. "Today is another wonderful event, in a series of events marking the 100th anniversary of Radio Belgrade and remembering the year 1924 when the first radio waves started from the transmitter in Rakovica," said Minister Jovanovic, stressing that during all these years radio has resisted more modern media - television and the Internet. Radio, as he says, was a sym- bol of our culture, our language, our tradition, a symbol of freedom of speech, freedom of expression, connecting all our citizens around the world. "I would once again like to congratulate all the employees of Radio Belgrade, as well as the employees of the Post of Serbia on a brilliant postage stamp with which we mark this jubilee", said Minister Jovanovic. The entire year of 2024 is dedicated to the great jubilee and significant events await us. "The crowning moment of the celebration will be October 1, but until then we will have a number of events and a number of institutions of the Government of the Republic of Serbia will be involved in the celebration of this really great jubilee", announced Minister Jovanovic. The Post of Serbia and Radio Belgrade will also organize an exhibition that awaits us in the autumn at the PTT museum, which will be dedicated to the beginnings of radio broadcasting. (14 March / 29 March 2024) SLOVENIA/YUGOSLAVIA 100 Years of Amateur Radio in Slovenia The first radio club in Slovenia was founded at the Narodni Dom ("House of the Nation") in Maribor on 17 April 1924. Its stated aims were to raise the level of knowledge about radio communications and ensure the legality of radio activity within the strictures of national legislation in force at the time. The first newspaper articles about the Maribor Radio Club appeared in the German-language Marburger Zeitung in 1924. Preparations for the establishment of the club actually began in 1923, but because this was the first official documentation of its activity, 1924 is considered to be the first year of organised amateur radio in Slovenia. An extremely important characteristic of amateur radio or organised ama- teur radio activity is that, in line with international regulations, ama- teur radio operators must pass a suitable exam to prove that they possess sufficient technical knowledge (of electronics and radio engineering) and operating knowledge (the rules and regulations of amateur radio communi- cation). Amateur radio operators have demonstrated their skills and know- how on countless occasions by being among the first to respond in emergen- cies and playing a vital role in disaster response and recovery. This is also proof that the amateur radio community is not a closed group of hobbyists dedicated to purely personal interests but a genuine world- wide movement of people with a high moral sense and a deep attachment to the principles of humanism, friendship and mutual assistance among all the people of the world - regardless of gender, age, status, ethnicity, nationality, religion and political affiliation. The Fest will be a combination in-person and Zoom event, and will be held at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania - just north of Philadelphia. We have a block of rooms set aside for the Fest at a special rate; this block will only be available until April 18th, 2024. After that date our special rate may no longer be avai- lable, and the hotel itself may sell out. In-person registration is limited to 65 participants, so register early if you don't want to get shut out; there is no limit to the number of Zoom participants. Start your process at the Winter SWL Fest website: You can find out more information there, and access the group reservation link for the hotel and also register for either the in-person or the Zoom event. We apologize if you're seeing this announcement in multiple places; we wanted to get the news out there as quickly as possible since we have tight deadlines this year. We look forward to seeing you there ! (Richard Cuff and John Figliozzi, co-Festmeisters - April 3) USA 17690.000 kHz April 3 at 1710 UT, R. Dear friends, NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center - for the first time ever! - unveiled an updated prediction in December 2023: "Solar activity will increase more quickly and peak at a higher level than that predicted ... The updated prediction now calls for Solar Cycle 25 to peak between January and October of 2024, with a maximum sunspot number between 137 and 173." Read more at Currently, we see excellent propagation conditions on the higher short- wave bands ... but don't forget the lower bands as well ! The Kiwi-SDR 2 has finally arrived on the market, and there are now 700+ receivers online at With several conflicts and wars going on not too far away from here, we've recently monitored a massive increase in HF activity with many new frequencies and stations. Says Armada International from Bangkok, Thailand - one of the world's leading and most respected defence publications - in January 2024 at "Available SATCOM bandwidth is under commercial pressure and at risk from jamming and cyberattack, as the Ukraine war has shown. - HF has establish- ed itself as a reliable long-range communications protocol with signifi- cant military utility. - HF provides intercontinental ranges, but its waveforms can be comparatively difficult to jam. Moreover, HF frequencies are free to use and do not suffer the congestion of some SATCOM bandwidths. As we plan redundancy in communication in military organisations, HF is often a contingency method to command and control troops on the ground. This enables warfighters to receive their orders in emergency situations, especially when Internet, cellular or SATCOM are not an option." HFDL: ZAN from Krasnoyarsk for several years now, last monitored here on 7 April 2017. Muhurroq is very active again, now on 2986 5544 6646 8885 10030 13312 17967, and 21982 kHz.
